A hardware wallet holds the keys that authorise transactions. You review and approve transactions on the device; your assets remain on the blockchain. Trezor Suite is the companion app for managing them. How hardware wallets work ↗

What does the touchscreen add?
Safe 5 makes PIN entry, wallet recovery and transaction approval a touch-based process. Safe 3 uses buttons. Both use the same type of secure element chip, so choose between them mainly on how you want to interact with the device.
Safe 3 and Safe 5 can show balances in the iOS app, but need a computer or Android device to sign transactions. Safe 7 can sign through the iPhone app over Bluetooth. You can also use Safe 7 by USB-C and disable Bluetooth.
The Bitcoin-only editions run firmware focused on Bitcoin. Choose the standard version if you plan to use other assets. Check your exact coin, network and required wallet app in Trezor’s compatibility list before buying.
You still need to check what you approve on its screen. The device cannot undo a transaction you authorise. Your wallet backup restores access if the device is lost or damaged, so protecting that backup is part of owning a hardware wallet.
Keep Metal stores a physical copy of your wallet backup in stainless steel. It does not connect to an app or sign transactions. Trezor describes it as resistant to fire, water and impact.
The linked product is the 24-word BIP39 version. Current Safe 3, Safe 5 and Safe 7 setups default to a 20-word SLIP39 backup. Choose storage for the backup you actually created or restored; the wallet model alone does not tell you which format you have.
If you use a 20-word backup, see the 20-word Keep Metal ↗ instead. That is a standard product link.
